Dear Parents-
SPRING will descend upon us March 20th. Plants have already begun to bloom into a kaleidoscope of vibrant colored flowers and glorious smells. Freshness is in the air. Spring brings to mind renewal, growth, resurrection, resiliency, joy and a newfound hope. Spring, the season in which the teenage paradox of high energy intensifies along with spring fever. Oh, Happy Spring!
As we move toward the end of our third quarter and report card night on March 18, it is of utmost importance that we encourage our students not to “give up.” This is especially true for our seniors. It is a good time for all of us to review the first four points under our Philosophy, found in your Parent-Student Handbook: “The community of Saint Elizabeth High School believes:
1. Education has the power to liberate
2. Parents are the primary educators of their children
3. Students are ultimately responsible for their education
4. Teachers in partnership with parents are the facilitators of learning
It is also the time to remind parents and students of the following:
• Service Hours are due: 25 hours for 9th graders; 50 hours for 10th graders; 75 hours for 11th and 100 hours for seniors. Please send verified hours are sent to Mr. Landeza.
• Special Session - March 29 - 31 are REQUIRED school days. Students will receive either a “Pass”/”Fail” grade on their report card and transcript. Absence from Special Session will result in a “Fail”
As we move deeper and deeper into the Lenten season, this Lenten Psalm from -Prayers for a Planetary Pilgrim- is worth our prayerful reflection.
- I thank you, God, for the warming of the winds that brings a melting of the snow, for daylight hours that daily grow longer and richer in the aroma of hope.
- Spring lingers beneath the horizon as approaching echoes of Easter ring in my ears.
- I lift up my heart to you, Beloved, in this season of Lent that gently sweeps across my sluggish and sleeping heart, awakening me to a deeper love for you.
- May the wind of the Spirit that drove Jesus in the desert, into the furnace of prayer, also drive me with a passion during this Lenten season to enkindle the fire of my devotion in the desert of Lenten love.
- Birds above, on migratory wings, signal me to an inner migration, a message that draws me homeward bound on Spirit’s wings to the heart of my God.
- May I earnestly use this Lenten season to answer the inner urge to return.
Blessings and Joy!
