2011 Alumni Dinner Dance

The St. Elizabeth High School Red and White All-Class Reunion

On Saturday, April 9th, alumni from the 40s through the 90s attended the annual Red and White Reunion. Special honorees were Dr. Art Panella ’60, Distinguished Graduate, and Arleen Maginnis, Honorary Graduate.

Art may now be a distinguished endodontist, but back in the day he was the man to know at Saint Elizabeth High School. We agree with Art’s wife Sally, who introduced him as a noble and generous man. He has been very good to his class and to Saint Elizabeth High School. In 1960, he was into everything from basketball to Broadway. We hear he knocked ‘em dead in The Imaginary Invalid. In addition, Art was the President of the Student Senate, meting out punishments for serious offenses like chewing gum and taking unauthorized drinks from the water fountain. Best of all, Art not only knows where his letter jacket is, he was able to wear it for his acceptance speech!

Arleen Maginnis graduated from another high school which shall not be named (its initials are HNHS). As a student, she often attended Friday night dances at St. Elizabeth. She became involved with fundraising for St. Elizabeth through another 1960 alumna, Barbara Cuvelier, who introduced Arleen at the Reunion. Barbara and Arleen, along with Annette Maggiora and other generous alumni, started our Auction and Crab Feed 23 years ago. Arleen is still the chair of the decorating committee!

We are grateful for these and other generous alumni, and especially grateful for the opportunity the Reunion gives to make new friendships and strengthen old ones.
