2011 SUMMER SCHOOL

OPTIONS AT ST. ELIZABETH

For Algebra 1 Saint Elizabeth High School will be having a summer session from June 16 until July 14, 8:30 - 11:45 a.m.   Cost is $300.  Please register in the main office by June 10, 2011 .

Saint Elizabeth may be offering a summer school English review course in order to make up D or F grades in English 9, 10, or American Literature.  We will need at least 15 students to sign up for this course by June 3 in order to offer this class.  The course will be taught from June 16 until July 14, 8:30 - 11:45 a.m.   Cost is $300.

If students need both Algebra 1 and English summer school, they must take Algebra 1.

OPTIONS AT OTHER SCHOOLS

Mathematics Courses

For Geometry and Algebra 2:

Saint Joseph ND in Alameda will have Geometry and Algebra 2 from June 13 - July 15 in the mornings.  Cost is $500.

Bishop O’Dowd has summer school Geometry and Algebra 2 courses from June 13 through July 12.  Courses are taught in the afternoon.  Cost is $618 per course.

Salesian in Richmond has both a Geometry and Algebra 2 courses.  Cost is $450 for one class and $700 for two classes.  Summer school runs from June 20 until July 22.

Independent Study through BYU correspondence courses (See Mr. Troper) 10 lessons and a final exam. Cost is $140 for each course.  Course must be completed by August 12, 2011 .  Students may only take this course to make up Algebra 2.

Peralta Colleges have free summer courses from June 20 - July 28, but you have to pass an assessment test.

English Courses

Salesian High School in Richmond has summer school English 9, 10, and 11 classes.  Cost is $450 for one class and $700 for two classes.  Summer school runs from June 20 until July 22.

Bishop O’Dowd has summer school English 9,10, and 11 classes from June 13 through July 12.  Courses are taught in the afternoon.  Cost is $618 per course.

Bishop O’Dowd has Spanish 1 and Spanish 2 classes from June 13 through July 12.  Cost is $618 per course.

Peralta Colleges summer course is free, but check with Mr. Troper for the equivalent community college Spanish course.

Bishop O’Dowd has Biology and Chemistry classes from June 13 through July 12.  Cost is $618 per course.   

Religion Courses

Only Bishop O’Dowd has an independent study course for Religion.  Classes run from June 13 through July 12.  Cost is $618 per course.

History Courses

Salesian High School in Richmond has courses for both World Cultures and US History.  Cost is $450 for one class and $700 for two classes.  Summer school runs from June 20 until July 22.

Bishop O’Dowd has a US History course from June 13 through July 12.  Cost is $618 per course.

Salesian’s summer session offers the option where you can take two courses from 8:15 - 10:30 a.m. and 10:45 - 1:00 p.m. for only $700. 

Bishop O’Dowd’s summer session offers a two course option from 8:15 - 10:15 a.m. , 10:25 a.m. - 12:25 p.m. , and 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.   However, the cost is $1,218.  

The Peralta Community College (Laney, Merritt, Alameda ) Summer Session fills up rapidly and you must have a concurrent enrollment form signed by Mr. Troper.  You must also take and pass an assessment test in order to take any English or Mathematics course.  If Peralta finds out that you are taking the class in order to make up a failing grade, they will not let you register for the class.  High school students can only take community college classes for enrichment purposes.  Peralta’s summer session runs from June 20 until July 28.
